Lace Wig Academy

A lace wig is a wig made of tulle (lace), where the strands are tied one by one to the cap, allowing free distribution. You can do hairstyles, braids, buns, ponytails… and also, when fixed properly, you can go to the beach, pool and even go diving without it leaving its place.

There are several lace wig manufacturers around the world, but the vast majority are located in China, due to the best cost-benefit production. Likewise, pieces can be made with hair from different origins, and the rarer and longer the thread, the more expensive the piece will be (such as those made with European and Jewish thread).

The lace wigs from WIGS BY CAMILA are made with “Brazilian Hair” which is characterized by medium thickness, softness and a healthy shine  – this does not mean that the hair was born to a Brazilian person, but rather that the strand has the characteristics described above.

A Full Lace Wig is a wig made with strand-by-strand tying throughout the entire cap, which allows for free parting anywhere on the head, making it a light, breathable, and versatile piece.

It is possible to order your Full Lace Wig with a density (quantity of strands) of 130%, 150% or 180%. The cap will come with 1 internal comb on the back, which can be unstitched, and the elastic band that helps with the final adjustment of the piece on the head.

A Lace Front Wig is a very natural appearing wig as it has 6” of lace strand by strand, which allows for free deep frontal parting, and from ear to ear. The available densities (number of threads) can be 150% or 180%. The cap will come with 1 internal comb on the back, which can be unstitched if necessary, and the elastic band that helps with the final adjustment of the piece on the head.

Despite the back seams, it is still possible to make braids, buns and ponytails depending on the hair length.

Density refers to the number of hair strands sewn and/or tied into the lace cap, resulting in a piece with more or less volume. Our Lace Front Wigs can have densities of 150% or 180%, and our Full Lace Wigs a density of 130%, 150% or 180%.

Tying the strands in the lace wig cap results in several dark dots (knots) that evidently appear at the hair parting line. The technique of bleaching the knots was created to optimize this result. Bleached knots are less noticeable, which makes the hair parting line cleaner and more natural.

Important: although the result is very realistic, we emphasize that bleaching can reduce the useful life of the piece, making the threads fall out more easily.

For clients who opt for bleached knots, we recommend the purchase and frequent use of Knot Sealer (a product for sealing knots), as well as the use of purple shampoo on the inside of the cap to neutralize possible orange tones in the piece.

To take your measurements correctly, use a measuring tape. The chart below shows what measurements are needed to determine your cap size. If you are between sizes, we suggest that you choose the larger size. This will ensure that your wig will fit properly and reduce the risk of your cap size being too small.

The chart below shows measurements according to WIGS BY CAMILA wig products.
